Project 39 - From Green to Dream

#yearof100Projects

This week I came across these handles again.  I think I purchased them in 2012 or so, when I was going through my mint green (or rather 1950's green & Tiffany Blue) phase which lasted until 2022.

It was a time when me and my bestie would go to La Cantera and shop at APOTHECARY, my favorite store, which had knobs back then.

I believe these were found at JoAnn Fabrics, or Michaels, although I cannot quite be sure.

They caught my eye and I was obsessed with 1960s shades of green!  Everything was green!  I snatched up these beauties with grand ideas of what possibilities they would decorate.

I really had no purpose for them other that to have them and put them somewhere in my studio, which was then in the kitchen.

No matter where we lived, or how small our home, my husband made sure I always had a place to create. I think my obsession with Beetlejuice, and being very like Delia Deetz "gutting out the house" if she cannot get her creativity out, frightened him just a bit if I'm honest.

So these two beauties, one girl one boy, found their way into my Project Boxes / Drawers of Doom.

A year ago I was going to drill holes in my file cabinets and install them.  However, that meant that I would have to repaint the whole ugly file cabinet. Which would mean I would have to empty the file cabinet.  Ending up causing a complete course correction to clean up the files, ending in updating the file folder chaos.

I avoided this project like the plague.

This month I found the twins in a drawer ever so neatly nestled away.  They called out to me, to be guilded along with a bunch of items I grabbed up in a Mania of Painting Panic.

They came out beautifully!  I love them more now than ever.

Alas they will now go in another Project box awaiting the day that I tackle that horrid file cabinet mayhem that is my doom project.

The reason I set out to do #yearof100projects is to get more organized with my crazy brain and issues. Clean up those doom piles, and boxes of chaos.

My husband and daughters words popped into my head at the beginning of the year.

Some projects are just too big. I tend to  take on more than I can handle at the moment.

Therefore I created #yearof100 projects.

No matter how Huge or Miniature a project is, I will get finished this year.

The idea is that, for something Huge like the filing cabinet, each step will become a project.

This should keep away burn out, boredom, becoming overwhelmed, and anxious.

This week the door handles were completed.

Sometime this year the files will be sorted as a project, then the cabinet will get refurbished as a project, then my finally and maybe project #100 will be putting the handles on the cabinet.

We will have to wait and see.  I am now half way through my projects and have still hundreds left for next year!
